Renault tops scrappage figures

There have been 8,790 scrappage deals in total as at the end of June, according to figures just released from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI).

Renault remains the biggest seller in the scrappage scheme selling 1669 units, representing 1 in 5 of all scrappage deal cars sold to date (19%).

They are followed by Ford with 1218 units (14%), Skoda on 869 units (10%), Volkswagen with 824 units (9%), Toyota with 642 units (7%), Kia on 578 units (7%), Hyundai with 543 units (6%), Opel on 470 units (5%), Nissan with 416 units sold (5%), and Fiat with 304 units sold (3%).

The breakdown of VRT category cars shows 47% were in C02 Band A, with the remaining 53% in Category B.
